yoox.com presents:
"THE WILD BUNCH"
(Cutting Edge Designers)
with
Alexandre Herchcovitch
yoox.com, looks to the next generation. "The Wild Bunch" – yoox.com's latest innovative project – sources some of the hottest designers from around the globe and gives them a platform to promote their work on three continents. yoox.com once again seeks to break the mould by gathering an international collective of truly talented designers linked by their unique approach to fashion that creates new forms and works with unusual materials. While they may not be household names in your part of the world, their ability to experiment as well as their skilled craftsmanship is so obvious that it needs no translation.
Giorgio Correggiari, curator of the project, is renowned worldwide for his ability at spotting the future leaders of fashion and has selected the first designer of the list: Alexandre Herchcovitch, the shining star of Brazil. September 11th 2004 will mark Herchcovitch's debut presentation at New York Fashion Week after having shown in Paris for five seasons. In conjunction with his 1:00pm show at the Theatre in Bryant Park, yoox.com will be featuring an exclusive selection from Herchcovitch's Fall/Winter '04 men's and women's collection, available for purchase online from September through December.
Acclaimed by key players in the fashion industry, Herchcovitch's Brazilian background exudes life through vivid colors and eccentric styles. His signature look is one of vivacious femininity and while Brazil is where his heart is, he plunders many other sources for inspiration. To this end he reflects: "I believe in one world fashion. I feel I have the freedom to change my expression through my clothing to reflect the many influences that surround me."
Correggiari says: "Finally a project evolves that can alleviate the distributive confines of the physical world and bring light to the true artists of our time. It is time that great fashion has no borders."

LOVE THERAPY

Self-induced angst is way too cheap for the third millennium, get rid of it with LOVE THERAPY: it's easy! Considering the worldwide spread of unease, yoox.com has called in a very special doctor: Elio Fiorucci, the acclaimed maestro who has revolutionized "La Moda Italiana" through his 35-year-old career. He has promoted his "Free Spirit" philosophy, by creating a dynamic patchwork of trends and attitudes; he has helped redefine the vocabulary of fashion, by introducing or reinventing such words as "tanga", "fluorescent", "tattoes", "pop" and "plastic". And this is what he's had to say, this time around: "It all comes down to the L word".
"LOVE THERAPY", in true Fiorucci-style, mixes creativity with humor, lightness with naughtiness, boldness with naïveté. From the homepage, the user reaches a dedicated area where by simply selecting the thorn in one's side ("I'm afraid of the dark" – "I've been a bad girl") the key remedy is presented. In Elio's world of fantasy and wonder, eccentric apparel, accessories and gadgets, most of which have been especially produced for the occasion, come together in a series of uplifting "healing kits".
All items in each kit have been carefully selected to alleviate a specific malaise - often revealing an ironic side, to remind that mending a broken heart can also be fun. Has she just been cheated on by her boyfriend? She might discover it's time to repay him by first lathering up some luscious "bitch" soap, then rubbing on a "dirty girl" cream on her body and finally going out in a tank-top that promises "dangerous delights", with her pink fur-covered handcuffs close by. Even free spirits might appreciate some constraint. The moral of the story? If moods are as transient as the things we wear, then clothes and accessories themselves can be the way to play with them, twist them and laugh at them.
yoox.com's creative kaleidoscope continues to display innovative patterns – spanning from rare vintage finds to young jewelry designers, from a selection of top-designer end-of-season products to multi-ethnic fashion from exotic corners of the world. Now, with LOVE THERAPY, yoox.com is proud to present Elio Fiorucci's wit and inventiveness.
