June 2009 - In celebration of its 9th anniversary yoox.com organized an exhibition revealing what is its most hidden side but also its world view. For the show, yoox.com asked its photographers to explore their imagination and tell their own stories through pictures.
The result, "ONCE UPON A TIME… A forest beyond the red door", is a photographic journey of intimate stories and surreal visions winding through the exhibition's enigmatic venue Villa Impero on the hills surrounding Bologna from June 19th to 28th, 2009.
The exhibition curated by Gianluca Marziani highlights the creativity of yoox.com's team of young photographers, their ability to give shape to uncharted visions and interpret reality through this art form.
The exhibition's theme takes its cue from "Once Upon a Time…", a starting point for photographers to describe an unexplored world that can be seen only after having crossed the threshold of an imaginary "red door". The pictures illustrate what's behind the red door, and each is a discovery of the unique and intimate universe of each photographer. For some behind the door there is a body, for others a window or the forest…
